There are innumerable scams and viruses on the internet just waiting for someone to click “download” or let down their security for an instant. It is dangerous to surf the web unaware. However, there are some steps you can take to enjoy your internet browsing safely. These include employing security to protect you online, using your e-mail appropriately, and watching for the red flags.

Check your internet settings to ensure that you have firewalls up and some level of protection against the threats floating around on the internet. Also consider increasing your level of safety or use software designed to protect your from viruses. If you do invest in security software, remember to routinely run scans to clean your computer, as some viruses can stay dormant in your system for weeks before they wreak havoc on your computer.

E-mail is a wonderful way of communicating, but it can also be an open door to viruses and online scams. Only give out your e-mail address to people you know, and keep your password private. Also, beware of spam that can flood your inbox disguised as notifications, most commonly from your bank. E-mails with links in them that you can click on are the current method of computer invasion, so be extremely cautious if your receive them and investigate the source.

Lastly, keep an eye out for red flags that can warn you of potential threats. These include poorly spelled pop-ups or e-mails, or those that contain obvious grammatical mistakes. Do not open e-mail that is not specifically directed toward you—particularly bank information that does not contain your full name on it.

One can get the information on understanding what actually free stuff means and how one can actually benefit from them by reading the online articles on them.

There is no one in this world who does not like to receive things without paying for it, additional amounts or free stuffs re always attractive to all. This is the reason a lot of manufacturers and retailers of different kinds of goods bank on the various promotions that give away free stuff to attract new customers and increase purchases by the old customers. There are various websites that help to understand what the consumer actually gets when he goes in for a free stuff. They also help in understanding how can the consumer actually differentiate whether he is getting the stuff for free or not.

This webpage explains how o find free stuff online and how to make the best use of the promotions. In this age of cut throat competition all the manufacturers and retailers from different industries try to lure customers by providing free stuffs at least for the namesake of promotion. These WebPages helps to understand which promo deals are actually effective out of the huge number of deals seen all around. This link also helps through finding the best free deals available online and how can one use them to its optimum. The various online journals is a guide for the customers who get easily lured by the free stuffs offered by the different manufacturers and retailers in any industry and thus end up spending on a lot of stuff which they do not need actually.

Business intelligence. Is it just a buzz word for I.T.? In a word, no. Business intelligence is the advancement and innovation of technical solutions bringing you the very best in software and technological advancements to improve your business. Put simply, your business becomes intelligent.

Using the right business intelligence service can create worldwide integration and performance. Different software tools can finally talk to each other and integrate seamlessly to provide your business with:

advanced analytics

industry insights

competitor insights

optimized data working faster for you than ever before

dashboard reporting

cloud technology

designed to fit your business perfectly.

On top of all the above, the latest SQL servers provide lower energy consumption and reduced carbon footprint. Great news for the environment, a great selling point for your business and great news for the bottom line when now, more than ever, overhead costs and budgets are being monitored very carefully.

A SQL server and a great business intelligence provider can make the difference from being a business that is reactionary to changes in the market place, works from historical data and outdated results, to a business that has control, feeling the pulse and change of their business in real time. Allowing American businesses to become proactive, innovative, intuitive, and industry leaders ahead of the competition. Who wouldn’t want that?

Look into the benefits of business intelligence services and SQL servers. It’s not a new buzz word, it’s revolutionary to the I.T marketplace, and it’s here to stay.

It’s a modern fact of life: internet scammers live to rip you off. An innocent consumer’s search for free stuff can quickly become a nightmare if they’re not careful. Corporate websites are a good place to start your quest for freebies. Don’t forget these sites are all about free too:

Free Books: Kindle eBooks

You don’t need to own a Kindle to enjoy its library of books. Amazon’s eBooks section has a huge collection of free books you can download straight to your own computer, iPod, or iPad.

Free Music: Pandora

Nominated this year for a Webby—the Internet’s version of the Academy Awards—Pandora allows you to listen to artists and songs you like and shares new performers with you based on your likes. If you don’t mind the occasional ad, you can enjoy Pandora on your computer or iPod.

Free TV Shows and Movies: Hulu

Hulu is fast becoming a very popular way to watch entertainment online. All you do is go to the website, choose the show or movie you want, and start watching! You can use an HDMI cable to hook your computer to your TV for more viewing pleasure.

Free Stuff

Legitimate free stuff websites do exist, you just have to weed out the bad and find the good. Sites like mysavings.com offer company coupons for free stuff and allow users to rate the deal or mark it as invalid. Savvy searchers can snag some pretty good deals.

Don’t trade any payment or personal details for online freebies; stick to your gut and search out forums for legitimate suggestions and reviews. Your free stuff is just waiting for you.

Having an antivirus program on your computer is vitally important to keep from accidentally infecting your computer with viruses, Trojans, and other malware. These infections can not only harm your computer, but can also compromise the information stored on a computer. Many computers come with a free trial of an antivirus program that you are able to use for 30 or maybe even 90 days after purchasing your computer. The idea behind this is that the antivirus company hopes you will pay for access after your trial expires. This is not your only option; there are many other antivirus programs available, including two that are well reviewed and completely free.

AVG, which stands for Anti-Virus Guard, is a popular antivirus product by the Czechoslovakian software company Grisoft. The company offers several different versions of the program; the free version, and versions that offer different advantages for a fee. This helps Grisoft to meet the needs of many different types of customers. The free version of their program does not stop adware, but will help protect the user from viruses that can be found while browsing or checking e-mails. The program scans incoming and outgoing e-mails, attachments, and downloads. It will also give a warning if a website appears to be unsafe to browse.

Another one of the most popular free antivirus programs is Avast. This is a program that has been on the market since 1988. The program was introduced by Avast Software. Like AVG, Avast offers a free and a paid version of the product. Avast has all of the features found in AVG, but also monitors a few other aspects of computer security. Avast also protects users of peer-to-peer sharing programs. This is an aspect of security that will likely grow in the coming years as peer-to-peer sharing grows in popularity.

Free. Don’t you just love that word? In tough financial times, cash and cards can only stretch so far. It’s truly a warm welcome when consumers can locate free products and services that make life a little easier.

It only takes a quick glance at a search engine’s listings to discover a gold mine of websites that can get you what you want with no dollar signs attached.

While a bottle of sample lotion or house cleaner may come to mind, there really is so much more. A real treasure site is www.thefreesite.com, which lists dozens of links in a wide range of categories. All these links lead to sites with free products, services or downloads. It really is your number one source for web freebies.

For example, do you own a business? Would you like to be able to advertise and sell your products for free online? Now you can set up your own customized store to showcase and/or sell your products on the web all for free. There is no programming expertise needed. Try www.webplusshop.com to get started. Note that as your business needs increase, you have to pay a fee to upgrade. A basic package though allows you up to 5,000 products with advertisement postings all for free. What a deal!

And the fun free stuff doesn’t stop there. Want a more secure method for logging in on your computer? Check out www.brothersoft.com/keylemon for a fresh new technique. This site offers a free download of KeyLemon 2.4 which allows you to log on to your personal Windows account using your face. That should make a few heads turn in the computer lab.

Need a simple security program for your computer? Internet Firewall is a prime choice, and you guessed it, it’s completely free. You can download it at http://www.brothersoft.com/internet-firewall-438699.html.

With a little exploring, you can save a bundle and receive most stuff for free. So take some time, it’s worth it!

The potential to be spectacular often leads to epic failures. In sports, unfulfilled potential during the early stage of a career can be erased through a mid-career renaissance. Technology gadgets that flop do not get to enjoy the same type of a second chance. A bad first impression can spell doom for a new product or service.

The handheld videogame market exploded more than 20 years ago with the release of Nintendo Gameboy. The black and white screen supported the iconic puzzle game Tetris and a few poorly imitated ports from the Nintendo Entertainment System. The quality of the product was trumped by the popularity of Nintendo characters. Seeking to replicate the success of the Gameboy, the Gizmondo sought to bring handheld video games to a new audience. The Gizmondo sought to be a video game system, MP3 player, DVD player, messaging device and GPS system. Instead it failed to effectively provide any of its promised services. The glitch-filled device came in a $299 version that included ads and a $400 version that was ad-free. The terrible reviews trumped the massive public relations campaign that launched with the product. The company behind the device field for bankruptcy, and to add injury to the insult one of the company’s directors pleaded guilty to charges of embezzlement.

While not quite as disastrous as the failed Gizmondo, the Motorola ROKR E1 sought to combine the cell phone with the MP3 player. The ROKR was the result of collaboration between Apple and Motorola. The device proved to be visionary. It was released two years before the iPhone, but it fizzled as Apple released the iPod Nano at the same time. The failure of the rocker caused Motorola CEO Ed Zander to say, “Screw the Nano.” Motorola and Apple no longer work together, and Motorola has not been a significant player in the cell phone market since the failure of the ROKR.

Every day, you see pop-up advertisements and advertisements on your search engine’s home page for free stuff. This can range from free downloads to free merchandise and just about anything in between.

If you’re like most people, the word “free” immediately captures your attention. However, before clicking on “send it now” or “let me have it,” you should take the time to do a little research.

It’s true that the majority of free stuff online, especially those things sponsored by well-known and well-recognized national companies, does come without strings attached. Other offers, however, may not be so straightforward. Some of them may be scams, and some may actually be ploys to breach your computer’s security features.

One way you can determine if free downloads or free stuff online may be suspect is to check for the website’s security features. Many of them will display a symbol, logo, or other indication that they use a specific security feature on your order or reply pages to protect information that’s sent to them.

Another thing to look for is how much information the website wants you to provide before processing your request. At the most, a company should only ask for your last name and first name (and if they ask for this, just put in your first initial), and your e-mail address. If a company asks for more information, it’s best to pass on this offer of free stuff online.

A legitimate company may also ask you to type a combination of letters or numbers. This is a good thing. It shows that the company is concerned with privacy issues, and that it wants to make sure your information is protected.

Also, look for tell-tale phrases such as “requires participation in…,” “must accept three other offers…,” and similar ones. These may not be scams, but the participation of additional offer acceptance may be where the costs are hidden.

The Internet is a dangerous place to be if one isn’t careful. It can cost a person their identity, their physical safety, and on a much smaller scale, the health of their PC. While fears that the Internet is unsafe shouldn’t keep people from participating in the exciting world of cyberspace, it should serve as a warning to the men and women who use Internet as an everyday part of their lives. Here are some ways to avoid being harmed through online activities.

Don’t Respond

So many people make their money off a taking a person’s money. It’s an awful thing to be, but there are far too many people who fall for it to not be true. The rule is that when an email comes in from someone not know by the user, then the email should be deleted and never responded to. Even if the user thinks that responding would be fun and that they are smarter than the scam artist, playing around only increases the risk of making a costly mistake. The people that scam often have been doing what they do for years so there is no telling how they will handle a situation. It’s best to move forward.

Don’t Download

There are more than a few sites out there who claim to have the best software, songs, and movies. While this is totally appealing one has to ask themselves “what is the catch?” With the bigger sites there is often no catch. The only thing these sites are looking for is continued visits. However, for many there are sites that are just attempting to upload spyware onto the computer and compromise personal information. It’s something that should be avoided at all costs. If the site isn’t one that the user has ever been to, then it’s the kind of site that should be avoided. The Internet can be a safe place if users are careful.

Back in the days of Napster, downloading free music was all the rage. At the time, it thought that is was not only free, but legal. However, as we’ve seen after several music companies sued Napster, it is not legal. In fact, other organizations have made it a priority to prosecute anyone who may still think that downloading copyrighted music is acceptable. There have been many cases in the news where people have been fined hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Interestingly, you can still find free music on the Internet, and it’s completely free AND legal to download. And you may be surprised to find that this music is available via iTunes, one of the largest commercial sources for purchasing music. Here are some easy steps to get that free music.

If you don’t already have a copy of iTunes, simply go to iTunes.com and download the version that is compatible with your operating system. After the download is complete and installed, just open the iTunes application.

Find the “Music Store” tab in iTunes and click on it. This will open the entire Apple Music Store right there in iTunes.

Go to the search tab and enter “free music.” This search feature is located in the top right corner of the iTunes application. In addition, the home page of the iTunes Store also has “featured” free songs and music.

After entering the search term, you will be taken to another page that lists all the free music that is available. Just verify that all the songs don’t have a monetary price, but are designated as “free.” Then just select the songs you want and click download.

Your selections will then appear in the main iTunes application in the “Music” section of the library. It will also appear in the “Recently Added” section of iTunes.
